KEY PROGRAM DEFINITIONS
Self-Determination Program (SDP)
A voluntary program providing participants the "freedom, authority, support, and responsibility" to direct their own developmental services instead of using traditional regional center vendors. [1, 2, 3]
Individual Budget
The specific amount of regional center funds allocated to a participant annually, calculated from their past utilization, to purchase approved goods and services. [1, 2]
Financial Management Services (FMS)
A mandatory vendored service provider that handles financial tasks, pays worker payroll and taxes, tracks spending, and verifies provider qualifications. [1, 2]
Independent Facilitator (IF)
An optional person chosen and paid by the participant to help negotiate budgets, recruit support workers, and advocate during planning. [1, 2]
Person-Centered Plan (PCP)
An individualized document mapping out a participant’s unique goals, preferences, needs, and vision for their life. [1, 2]
Individual Program Plan (IPP)
The official blueprint designed by the planning team detailing the goals and required regional center supports. [1, 2]
